...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING... The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a * Flood Watch for portions of CENTRAL ARKANSAS, NORTH CENTRAL ARKANSAS, and WESTERN ARKANSAS, including the following areas, in CENTRAL ARKANSAS, Conway, Pope, and Yell. In NORTH CENTRAL ARKANSAS, Baxter, Boone, Fulton, Izard, Marion, Newton, Searcy, Sharp, Stone, and Van Buren. In WESTERN ARKANSAS, Johnson, Logan, and Scott. * Through Saturday evening * Two to locally more than four inches of rain occurred in much of northern and western Arkansas the last couple of days. Several more rounds of showers and isolated thunderstorms are in the forecast through Saturday as a front lifts toward the state from the Gulf Coast, and a storm system arrives from the Plains. One to three inches of additional precipitation is in the forecast, with locally higher amounts. * Given recent heavy rain, there is more soil moisture. The ground is incapable of holding as much water, so the runoff potential has increased. This will make flash flooding more likely.
