Tonight, at 6:30, the DMJ School Board will meet for the regular October meeting at the Deer Campus. We will have our annual Report to the Patrons at 6:30 with the regular meeting to follow immediately after.

Deer Students enjoyed a visit Thursday afternoon from cinematographer and world traveler Petr Cikhart during his bike ride across Arkansas. He talked to the students about the various projects he has worked on and how he became a cinematographer.

Congratulations to Deer Schools' Classified Staff Member of the Month for the month of September: Leslie Daniels!!! Leslie gives her best every day to make Deer Schools the best that it can be. She is super helpful to all the students and staff of our great school and is a warm welcome to all our campus visitors. Thank you for all of your hard work!!!!

Congratulations to Deer Schools' Teacher of the Month for the month of September: Henry Wooten!!! Mr. Wooten is a dedicated faculty member who is in his 8th year with the district. Besides teaching business and computer science, he is also Golf coach, FBLA sponsor and Yearbook Advisor. Thank you for all of your hard work!!!!

Mt. Judea’s Employee of the Month is our awesome kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Bower! Her are a few things her colleagues said about her: Mrs. Bower is an excellent leader and gives her best everyday! Kindergarten is a beast and she is a saint. Also, she willing to do anything that is asked. Her whole heart is in it. Blessed to have her. She's very sweet and has lots of patience!

The Deer/Mt. Judea FFA students are selling chances to win a 500lb calf sponsored by Farm Credit. Tickets are $1 each or 25 for $20. To purchase see an FFA student or contact Mr. Keith Perkins: Deer 870-428-8109 or Mt. Judea 870-434-8201. Money and tickets will be turned in on October 28th and the drawing will be held on November 1st. Winner will be contacted by Farm Credit.

4th/5th science students at Deer are exploring matter and energy. Last week they experimented with balloons to determine how matter can take up space even when it can't be seen.

Last week students in Mrs. Young's class made arrays in math to match rug measurements and experimented with eggs to see how different drinks stain teeth.

Deer students got to visit with Arkansas District 27 Representative Steven Walker today. Rep. Walker talked with the students about his role as a Representative in the Arkansas House of Representatives. He spent time answering the students questions about government, politics and what led him to his current position.
